MALDITOS HACKERS
Al final sucedió lo inevitable.
Mi jefe me ha dado un Ultimatum: o evitamos las continuas caidas del servidor de aplicaciones debidas a las intrusiones no deseadas o implantamos un sistema de turnos rotatorios para que siempre haya un técnico presente.
Como quiera que antes me voy de la empresa que trabajar otra vez de noche y tampoco me apetece mucho irme ahora tal y como están las cosas voy a realizar un intento desesperado de implantar todas las aplicaciones ASP 3.0. en un servidor corriendo Linux.
Mi pregunta es: ¿alguien conoce que esto sea posible con las mínimas modificaciones del código?
Cualquier documentación o vínculo será agradecido hasta la saciedad.
No me queda otra alternativa dado que el Microsoft 2000 server está más tiempo en el suelo que de pie.

Chilisoft o ActiveState, para soporte ASP en Linux, pero no esperes milagros. Es un soporte limitado (y de pago).
También tienes por ahí un tal asp2php. Tampoco esperes mucho. Ahora, hablo desde la inexperiencia. O:-)

Me veo pasando todo el asp a php, lo cual es como si me sacasen las tripas poco a poco por un agujerito.

Aquí tenemos otra prueba de que eso de que el TCO de implantar productos Microsoft es menor que el de implantar Software Libre -en este caso Linux por lo que dices- (hablando de servidores) es FALSO.
También observamos como el usar una plataforma de desarrollo cerrada como ASP te ata sin remedio a los designios de tu proveedor de software, dejándote con el culo al aire y haciendo que cada día que pasa te sea más difícil escapar de sus garras. Por muy bonito que sea el IDE que uses o por mucho que prometan sus nuevas (sic) ideas.

Por necesidad o por convicción, veo un giro mundial hacia el software libre :-D y, repito, ojalá encuentres una rápida solución (sea usando ASP bajo Linux o parcheando el servidor con algún parche oculto en microsoft.com :-P)

Ya, pero mi problema no es la depencencia de Microsoft sino los "Mardito Roedore" como diría el gato Jinks. Si no hubiera Hackers no tendría problema ninguno.
No tengo tan claro que en un entorno open-source me liberase de problemas de migración o cambios de plataforma.
¿o es que si todo lo hubiera hecho en PHP y ahora tuviera que pasarme a otro entorno no las iba a pasar putas?

Por tu post parece que tus problemas no son con tu código ASP, sino con tu Win2000 Server. Como PHP no es dependiente de plataforma, ni siquiera de un servidor concreto, podrías cambiar a Unix/Linux/*BSD e incluso probar apache/IIS/webserver que sea con soporte PHP. El problema es que ASP requiere un entorno cerrado de pago.

Te propongo otra solución: usa un Apache como frontal a Internet, y el W2000 detrás, protegido. Sería cuestión de utilizar la directiva ProxyPass para dejar "pasar" (redirigir) sólo lo que debe ser visible en el W2000, y capar todo lo demás a nivel HTTP (y, por supuesto, al resto de los niveles).
Llevamos año y medio ininterrumpido (salvo cortes de luz) con un Linux+Apache+PHP. Juzga tu mismo (la basura de los intentos de lamers nos caen a todos).

Algo así estamos barruntando por aquí.
El Tecnico de Sistemas proviene de UNIX y maneja un poquitillo de Linux así que estamos pensando colocar un primer filtro con un servidor bajo linux y luego redirigir al auténtico servidor de aplicaciones (windows 2000) que conecta con un tercer servidor con SQL Server.
Parecen demasiadas capas pero visto lo visto hasta son pocas.

Lo que dice mur0 es a lo que me referia... Puedes usar PHP (por ejemplo) en la mayoría de plataformas :)
Y los que te intenten putear siempre estarán ahí, por eso sigo viendo que el problema es la plataforma que te expone al mundo ;)

Por lo visto hasta el momento:
El apache-asp no sirve porque solamente ejecuta PERL Script.
Chilisoft y Activestate descartados por ser de pago.
Nos queda apache sobre windows 2000 lo cual es como el que tiene un tío en alcalá, que ni tiene tío ni tiene ná.
Lo unico que queda es un Frontal Linux corriendo PHP como servidor de aplicaciones y conectarlo a un Windows 2000 server con Sql server. Impracticable por el enorme trabajo de conversión de código (más de 15 aplicaciones).
Sigo buscando....

jomaweb: no, no, no, no hace falta que el Apache corra PHP. La idea es que haga de una especie de proxy inverso y pase sólo lo que os interese (las URLs que os interesen) filtrando el resto. Si no vais a usar PHP, cuanta menos cosas corra, mejor.

Aaaah, ya lo pillo. El apache solamente estaría actuando como proxy filtrando quién se conecta y quién no, para luego redireccionar al servidor de aplicaciones real con qindows 2000 . ¿lo he pillado?
